I would say that the internet serves as a virtual time capsule, only it can be accessed anywhere, at any time, by anyone. The difference being, in lieu of having access to only your personal information, you have access to virtually anyone’s information, and said information isn’t always so easy to get our hands-on. The article ‘The end of Anonymous data and what to do about it states, “…Computers are designed to keep data around forever unless explicitly deleted. But this assumption makes many nontechnical people deeply uncomfortable. There have been a number of proposals to ‘make the Internet forget,’…” Which is why sayings like “Be careful of what you post on the internet exist, nevertheless, people are wary of the assumption that when you ‘delete’ something of the internet that it’s really gone.Mostly due to the fact that the internet is known for collecting data from us that we sometimes don’t allow it to do. Tracking our locations, even when we turn it off and deny access, keeping records of the sites we visit even in ‘private’ mode, and keeping traces of all the things we do, click on, watch in the form of cookies, and cached data. All of our devices store every bit of data and personal information that we input into them because we trust that it’s secure and for our eyes only, which is what makes the internet so successful. We rely on the internet so much nowadays that it’s hard to imagine what life would be like without it.

Back in April, I was supposed to travel to Nicaragua for the first time ever. Unfortunately, covid-19 stopped that from happening. My map lays out the direction I would’ve been going. From home to Newark International, Miami International and then lastly landing in Managua, Nicaragua. There was no airplane directions so I chose driving directions.

I have tried to embed this several times, but it is not working on my end. I have tried copying and pasting it into the ‘text’ section. It shows on the ‘visual’ end from the editing page and erases after I update my post. The embed link is <iframe src=”https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/embed?mid=1AwO006TpPXgbCp4la-UBe79KVJ8EI96y” width=”640″ height=”480″></iframe>

In the link, I made a graph of the teen births of NYC. I got the data from
https://data.cccnewyork.org/data/map/79/teen-births#79/a/3/1589/25/a/a
I compared the two maps and it SUGGESTS that wealth might have a profound effect on who is having babies. Perhaps it could be due to education, studies have shown that when a teenager thinks about their education in their future, they tend not to get into relationships. This map could also suggest that those with money are more likely to abort their children if they don’t want it. I read an article saying how richer people tend to have less kids than poorer people. The map could also suggest that people in the darker zones/ poorer places don’t have access to contraceptives’ like their wealthier counter parts.
I though the homework was just to make a map, even though it is unrelated, I wanted to share it. It was just for fun
